Know It All

1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

I have been called a “know it all”. I am not, that was an insult. People come to me for answers, I don’t always have the answer, but I do enjoy the discussion. I ask difficult questions because I don’t have all the answers. Even so, I must admit I enjoy the attention that comes from being seen as someone who can help.

Charity here in the KLV is agape, which is the Greek word we identify as God’s perfect love. It is different from any other type of love because it gives of itself. I would like to think that being seen as one who can help is Christ in me. The emotion I attach to that help is not agape. Agape love does not take anything for itself. That is just me feeling joy, but it is an emotion.

When people praise me for my knowledge of the Word, I answer without humility. “I know nothing. But I know the One that does.” I take pride in my relationship with my Lord. I shouldn’t but I do. I shouldn’t because I didn’t do anything to deserve His attention.

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

As to knowledge, please understand the how.

1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

Unction is the English translation for the Greek word, chrisma and the definition is; anything smeared on, unguent, ointment, usually prepared by the Hebrews from oil and aromatic herbs. Anointing was the inaugural ceremony for priests.

Rather than man applying this anointing upon man, God Himself has anointed you to be an expression of His Son, Jesus Christ.
