A True God

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

What is the difference between a true God and a false god?

If you know anything about world belief systems, then you know that people throughout the world worship many gods. The issue of who and how many worship any god of any religion or sect does not create the existence of a true God. Your understanding, belief nor faith creates the existence of a true God. A demonstration of power does not create a true God.

The One True God is self-sustaining and needs nothing to be God. God like truth does not need your understanding, your belief, your faith, nor your acceptance to be God. What the True God has done is revealed Himself to His creation with purpose, with will and with design.

How I know this God is through truth. He has made promises and He has kept promises. I have yet to see all His promises come into existence in this life and one or two I will not see come true until I die or am translated. The fact that I have not seen them yet does not make them untrue. He has yet to fail me in any promise that has been made. He has been true to His Word. His Word is Truth.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

My evidence is the faith given in promises kept and fosters hope that the remaining promises will be kept.

No other god has done that.

  1. This is excellent, Lar. In our Life Group last night we had a very long discussion about this very subject, initiated by you know who. I’d love for him to read your blog for today.
Thanks for laying it out so plainly, and unwittingly underscoring points we covered last night.
