Waiting

Luke 10:40-42 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Martha types are encumbered with service. As I left off yesterday, I said to wait on the Lord. Here today we see Mary waiting on the Lord. She is doing nothing but sitting at Jesus feet and hanging on His every word. Is that doing nothing? It looked that way to Martha and to all Martha types.

In reference to yesterday’s waiting on the Lord, let us hang on every word. Is His word in your heart? Has scripture been placed in the forefront of your mind? Can you meditate on His word with a bible in front of you? Can you keep your mind stayed on Him?

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

During these periods of service, peace of mind is required, His peace on our troubled minds. If you don’t think that is enough to keep you strong during these times, then you haven’t tried being stayed on the Lord. I am not saying it is easy, just necessary. Peter, James and John fell asleep while Jesus was in the garden. If the sons of thunder and the little rock fell asleep, then I suspect any of us might do the same.

Mark 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
