Primary Role

Leaving off with yesterday’s devotional, This is the continuing thoughts.

If you use your heart as a library for His Word the Holy Spirit will use the Word to bring into your memory His primary role, to instruct you in the desires of your Lord. It is dependent on your part to read the Word and take it to heart. Make His Word the core of your relationship. It is God the Father speaking to you, through the Son, and the stirred memory by the Holy Spirit.

Consider His primary role to you in relationship to the Father and Son and do not ask of Him anything. Pray to the Father and the Father will give instruction to the Holy Spirit in how to enact His will for you.

John 16:8-13 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Look carefully what Christ is saying here. The Holy Spirit will take over the work that Jesus Christ began in His earthly ministry. Some of the things that Jesus said about Himself in relationship to the Father are being said now about the role of the Holy Spirit. One thing in particular stands out, and that is conviction of sin. It is Satan that is being judged. Nothing breaks the handcuffs of that liar better than the truth.

  1. Thank you for saying not to ask anything of the Spirit. I see no scriptural precedence for praying to the Spirit. The Spirit brings to us what He is told.

Also, I love the image of library for storing God’s word; that is better than the idea of a pantry. Thx!
