New Beginnings

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Rather than going to definitions, translations and the complexities of what words might have meant to the people of previous generations, times, lineage and languages, let us approach His Word in the light of what it means to us in this present generation.

Image was used 107 times in the bible. That is a large field of usage to explore.

What does it mean to you?

It is in theory what we view with the eye which is a physical application of a created feature for all life. When we study the mechanism of vision we will discover not all eyes perceive the same things in the same way. Science has discovered different animals view things differently so that some eyes are color blind and some animals can see ultraviolet light while others cannot.

Then there is imaging. We are creative people and invented film media and started keeping records of events as a snapshot in time. Finding that it was not an accurate way to perceive events we invented ways to record images that moved.

Film needs light to create a negative and light again to create a print.

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Hebrews 1:3 “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” (KJV)

The brightness of His glory expresses an image of Him for us to see.
