My Part

Psalm 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

God changes circumstances, He does this alone, with no help from me. So what is my part in all this?

In verse one I cried out to Him. I’d found myself unhappy, unfulfilled, and in danger. Nothing I had tried changed any of that. So I cried out to God to change my circumstances.

Now how did I know to turn to this God? That is simlpe because the next verse explains what someone did in response to God saving them.

Psalm 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

They became a witness of God’s great mercy.

Now it is time to do my part. I should do what others have done for me, witness.

Something mystical happens in our transformation. So much has change because God loves us. As a new born babe in Christ there is so much to learn, adjustments, becoming that new creation.

Psalm 40:5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

In that complexity we lose sight of the simplicity.

Psalm 40:10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

Do you keep Him hidden in your heart or do you use your voice to praise Him for all He has done?

Psalm 40:17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

The Good News is that we do not do this alone.
