Isaiah 61 10b

Isaiah 61:10 English Standard Version (ESV) I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Our Lord clothes us with garments of salvation. We will receive white robes. What we wear identifies who we are in society. A white wedding gown is a sign of purity. That is a declarative position pronounced by God the Father during our justification. The covering by robes of righteousness is very similar, in that it is a covering hiding what is underneath. His righteousness is our righteousness. We have no righteousness of our own.

The issue of a headdress is not for the bride. When we put on Christ, He is our glory. He is our headdress. This takes us back to Isaiah 61:6 where we are called the priest of the Lord.

As to the bride adorning herself with jewels, we can see ourselves in relationship to the bridegroom because we are betrothed to Christ. As such God the Father treats us as daughters. Those daughters, betrothed to the Son have no rights, are not allowed to work, and everything they have has been given to them by the Father. This is a spiritual concept, not a secular one. Do not mistake one for the other.

What are these jewels?

Ephesians 4:8 English Standard Version (ESV) Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”[mankind]

Know that we have been given gifts with purpose. Discover the gifts, learn how they work, get trained in their use, find purpose in them and serve the Lord by serving one another.
