Integrity

Job 2:3 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

Job 2:9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

We know very little of Job’s wife. At this moment, rather than make assumptions about her, let us address what is shown in these scriptures. The common thread here in these two verses is integrity.

It sounds like God admires integrity. Satan now has an attack point, something God cares about, so his intention is to destroy Job’s integrity.

Job has lost his children, property, his health and now his wife. Rather than blaming a woman I do not know, let us say sin is at the root of this outburst. Sin has said “Your integrity didn’t save your children, your property or the life you once had. What good is it?”

If you have lost everything and integrity is all you have left, then it is everything.
