Genesis 3:12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”
We covered “His Sin” yesterday. Let us follow up with the woman’s role in all this.
Adam’s answer to God’s accusation is Adam’s first answer born of sin.
God first gave Adam the responsibility for subduing all things under his hand. Genesis 2:15.
Adam’s first answer in sin was to shirk his responsibility for his sin and blame the woman.
Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
If we were to think of desire as an emotional response to a physical need, we would be wrong.
If the husband acts responsibly and loves his wife as Christ loves His church, then a woman should want what the man wants, which is what is best for her.
It is a matter of cooperation, not to be subject to the man but to be a good partner.
Note closely I said “should want” which is a choice the woman has to make. Free will has not been revoked.
