Newborn

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

I left off yesterday asking you to think about what entering into the Kingdom of God would look like. As newborns you need to be fed and this brings up one of the more important aspects of living in the world and the Kingdom at the same time. In both the world and the Kingdom, you have appetites. Appetites do not dissolve just because you are born again.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

God provides the sustenance for Kingdom living and makes provisions to be our satisfaction.

Ecclesiastes 3:13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

Yet your body still has an appetite for worldly things.

Romans 13:13-14 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Galatians 5:16-17 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

You must receive spiritual sustenance in order to be able to walk in the spirit. If your diet is the things of the world, you have neglected the feeding of your soul.

Transitional Period

Acts 22:28 (ESV) The tribune answered, “I bought this citizenship for a large sum.” Paul said, “But I am a citizen by birth.”

Forgive my use of scripture out of context but this verse speaks to me about how we become Kingdom dwellers.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

We are born again into this Kingdom life, yet a very large price was paid for us in order to claim this citizenship. We tend to forget that at times.

Now that we are citizen of this new Kingdom and begin this transitional period of adjusting to a new life, what do we do first?

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We need to change the way we think.

Luke 19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

Transitioning from any form of government into a Principality requires us to accept His rule and right to reign over us. That is a very difficult adjustment. All we have ever known and heard about living under kings is undesirable but those were men, this One is God. That takes a new way of thinking.

If you moved to a foreign country what is the first thing you might want to learn?

The laws? The language? The customs?

My guess is that the first thing most of us think about is finding good restaurants.

Think about that for a second.
