God’s Glory

Genesis 3:8-9 English Standard Version

8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

Note that God came to Adam and Eve and sought them out but God did not seek out His angels.

The biblical definition of glory according to Vine’s Definition is the nature and acts of God in self-manifestation, i.e., what He essentially is and does, as exhibited in whatever way he reveals Himself in these respects, and particularly in the person of Christ, in whom essentially His “glory” has ever shone forth and ever will do.

Adam and Eve got to see God’s glory unfiltered. Being in the presence of God’s glory makes the viewer want to be like God. How do I know this?

Genesis 3:5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

Satan tempted Eve with what he knew to be true about being in God’s presence but lied to her about how to go about being godlike.

We will talk about God’s glory unfiltered tomorrow.
