Repent

Repent

Below are articles from the following dictionary: King James Dictionary

Repent: To Change One’s Mind & Purpose; Regret.

All I knew when I repented of the life I had lived was regret. Changing my mind and adopting a new attitude came later.

Last came a change in purpose.

The secondary definition of repent is to “Turn Again”.

The process of repentance is a continual turning again, over and over again.

1 John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

I am a sinner saved by grace. While I do not return to those old disgusting sins of my past, sin is still present and something I have to deal with over and over again. “Turn Again”

We have a bad habit of thinking that just because we are not the old disgusting sinner from our past and are changed that these “new sins” are not disgusting. We are comparing ourselves with ourselves and not to our Thrice Holy God.

2 Corinthians 10:12 Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.

Comparing myself against what I was is that same mistake.
