Mixology

Matthew 22:21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

Don’t mix politics with religion.

I could stop right there couldn’t I? I think we have all seen and heard enough about the influences of both on the other. These devotionals are non-political, so why am I bringing this subject to the forefront?

We are the body of Christ. There is a right ear and a left ear. There is a right eye and a left eye. There is a left hand and a right hand. We do not all hear the same thing, we do not see the same things, and we do not do the same thing.

We are only given one tongue and neither the right nor the left should take charge over its speech. If we are to render unto God that which is God’s then we need to be mindful of what belongs to God. Caesars change. We do not all live under one rule.

I hear some say with all sincerity; “I am blessed to live here.” Fine, wherever here is, praise God and give thanks unto Him for your blessings. How would you live your life if that “blessing” were taken away? It is within the realm of all possibility that change comes regardless of our best efforts or intentions. You could end up with a new Caesar, demanding what is his due. How will you respond?

According to Jesus render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar. Can you divorce your politics from your worship? Can you keep allegiance to God and still serve your Caesar, whoever that might be?

Do not think it so easy today for tomorrow may bring another day, with troubles of its own.

Must Do

Acts 16:30b Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Paul’s answer to the jailer was simple and true. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”

That’s it, pure and simple, nothing else is required. Baptism doesn’t save you. Works don’t save you. Going to church every Sunday doesn’t save you. Nothing and nothing else is required for salvation. Period.

Now prove it.

“What? Prove it. I don’t have to prove it. It is what it is, period.”

How do you know?

2 Timothy 2:15a Study to shew thyself approved…..

You have nothing to prove to anyone except yourself. Salvation is too important to leave up to someone else to tell you about your status before God. You shouldn’t take anyone’s opinion on the matter. Prove it to yourself.

“Well I read the bible all the time. Really? Is that the same as study?”

One of the definitions of study is a detailed investigation and analysis of a subject or situation.

“I don’t have time for that, That’s what I pay a preacher for.”

Really? A pastor feeds his flock, you still have to digest it!

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

They thought they were saved but were not. Thinking isn’t believing.

The truth is being saved is just the beginning of your walk with Jesus. There is a lot more to this relationship than mere salvation.

But don’t take my word for it.

Prove it to yourself.
