Wrong Fear

Hebrews 4:1-3 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Here once again if you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart this fear spoken of in these verses is the wrong kind of fear if you tie it to loss of salvation. The gospel preached and the promises of God are of no effect if faith is not the basis for belief and understanding. Faith is the root of salvation.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Imagine yourself following God and when you get to the end of your journey He turns and say “Who are you and why are you here?”

Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

These men depended on works to secure their salvation rather than faith. These men saw the miracles as being theirs rather than God’s.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

They sowed not the seed of faith. Faith allows you to see truth.

Confirmation

Psalm 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.

My dear friend and accountability partner will frequently make comments on my devotionals. The ones that are most precious to me are the ones in which the Holy Spirit has spoken into his heart and reminded him of passages within the bible that confirms that which I have written.

It is one thing to have friends and family acknowledge that what I have written has value but when the Holy Spirit says, “This Word is True!”, then that is confirmation from the author Himself, that I heard right.

For me there is no point in doing this if He is not with me to inspire what is needful. This is on the internet and reaches everywhere the internet is available. Who it touches and what good might come of it is up to God. I can rest assured that if God is in it, then good will come of it. That is the only thing that counts.

What motivates me is His abiding love and to severe Him as He would see fit. I learned a long time ago that choosing where to serve only satisfies myself.

1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

One last word of encouragement. May the Lord speak to you in Truth.

Hosea 9:5 What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the Lord?
