Psalm 95:10-11 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Yesterday I said I am secure in my relationship with Jesus Christ. In the beginning of Psalm 95 is some really good praise advice and many people rejoice in those portions of this psalm. These are the last two verses of that psalm and to many it is a stern warning that one can lose their salvation.

To those who worry, I say, you err in your heart.

It all begins with the heart condition. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ into your heart it does not matter how long you followed Him. Nearly all of those came out of Egypt and passed thru the Red Sea never got to enter into the Promised Land. The two men that did were Joshua and Caleb. They were the two spies that came back with a faithful report.

Numbers 14:8-9 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.

So why was it that these people followed God for forty years and died in the wilderness?

Simply put, they were not led by faith, except Joshua and Caleb who did enter in.
