Omni

Revelation 19:6 (KJV) And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Psalm 139:1 (NASB) God’s Omnipresence and Omniscience. O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

Psalm 139:6-7 (KJV) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

Here are the three omni words in meaning if nothing else.

Omnipotent, all powerful, nothing is beyond God’s ability.

Omniscience, all knowing, nothing is hidden from God.

Omnipresent, God is present in all His creation, the Alpha and the Omega, from beginning to the end of time, God eternal.

None of those three things indicate God’s will. Pastors and teacher will often refer to these omni words as God’s nature. They are God’s ability which is inherent in God and God alone.

God can do anything. Will He? I consider this; God will not act against His own self-interest. His self-interest is restoration of relationship with His creation. How God uses these onmi abilities to accomplish that end is the purview of God alone.

When unbelievers see God interact with His creation, they judge God without knowing Him, His character, His motivations, or His will. Being the express image of Him who came to save us, those judgments also fall upon us.

God did not give us His omni abilities, but He has conformed us in ways in which we can deal with those who oppose Him. His will in us has not changed, His purpose in us is still restoration of relationship, which is called reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
