3P

Romans 5:21  That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Earlier I spoke of how the Holy Spirit saves us from the pleasure of sin. If you have accepted Jesus into your broken heart to be transformed, then this second P is in effect. You have been saved from the penalty of sin, your place in eternity is secured. You will not be touched by the second death.

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Today we will speak to the third P in relationship to sin. You have been saved from the power of sin over your life. Before you were born again and the Spirit of Truth given, you had no help from God in resisting sin. You were on your own and powerless. Now, having the power of God in the form of the abiding Holy Spirit, you have God’s help, truth, to combat the lies, to see truth, and to resist sin and Satan.

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Once again, this Word, take heed, to heed the truth, was shown to us by Jesus in how to overcome temptation and resist the devil and his lies. The Holy Spirit will reveal truth, we must recognize this comes from God, then we must accept it as true, and finally once again we must choose. This same formula occurs over and over again in this new life in Christ. The right choice has a particular name which replaces obeying the law, religious ritual, and self-rule. It is called obedience of faith.

New Birth

A newborn cries out at the conversion from womb to world. Being born again isn’t such a drastic change. The spirit is gentle and kind and does not want to scare you away. He is more of a whisper than a shout.

1 Kings 19:11-12 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

If you learn His voice, He will give you direction in life.

Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Like all newborns, you are born into a new world full of wonders and bewilderments and the language is strange to you. You are now born in the spirit, with new eyes and new ears. Your tendancy is to close them for the brightness and return to that other more familiar world.

Isaiah 35:5-7 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

Matthew 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
