Focal Point

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

My focal point in this verse is “begotten us again unto a lively hope”. Here is why. When my father said to my mother “I want one more child.” he had a hope for me. He never told me of that hope. He kept it to himself, it was his hope and I do not know if I ever fulfilled that hope he had for me.

Being born again in the spirit, God the Father has a hope for me, and because He has given me His Spirit I know His hope for me. God the Father does not keep that hope unto Himself.

My earthly father’s hope was exercised by free will. My Heavenly Father’s hope is exercised by faith. My earthly father trained me up in those things he thought were necessary to have a life worth living. My Heavenly Father gave me a life worthy of living and then trained me to make the most of it.

My earthly father prepared me for an unknown future. My Heavenly Father prepares me for a future He knows of a certainty that only God Himself can call a blessed assurance.

Galatians 1:15-16 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

My focal point is here, “I conferred not with flesh and blood”. I focus on this because now that we are born again, our natural tendencies are to rely on our earthy father’s hope and training and not to focus on this new life we have been presented with.

My Heavenly Father’s hope is to reveal His Son in me.

One Thing

Deuteronomy 4:32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?

One thing I do believe and on it hangs all my faith, beliefs and hopes.

What is it for you? I am not going to try to convince you of what my one thing is so that you should believe as I believe. Of what value is belief if it doesn’t come from your heart? Faith, hope and belief need to be personal.

This Moses said of the shared experience in which they all had one point of reference. What he said a few verses earlier apply to all of us, for all time.

29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

This one thing I do believe because if I do not believe this one thing, then my faith is false and I have no hope. Do you have that one thing that you trust with all you heart and your world hangs in the balance? I had a shattered life and this one thing made me whole. It keeps me together, a strong bond that holds all the pieces of that shattered life, so that if I should lose it, I would crumble.

Has Deuteronomy 4:32 happened for you? Do you have this great thing that has happened in your life that is unlike anything else?

Daniel 7:16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

As a witness of that one thing, we are meant to share that truth upon which our very lives hang in the balance.
