The most important part of basic training is the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the primary legal framework that governs the U.S. Armed Forces. It does not replace civil laws that exist where those troops are stationed. It is in many cases more strict than most civil laws.
Romans 2:12 For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
One of the benefits of the law are the protections of the law. We don’t always think about the law as being merciful because it is man that unjustly wields the gavel in its pronouncements.
Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.”
Those of us who are in service to our God need basic training and refresher courses to remind ourselves of who is just and the justifier of those in His service.
