Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love
These words from Psalm 103 seem appropriate to begin my tale of one perfect day.
That day had a preamble that began the night my first wife died. She made me promise to marry again and be happy. Over the next six months God showed me signs and wonders in answer to my prayer, “Show me your will for me.” The image of a woman began to be formed with all that she had suffered.
We met at BigChurch.com and wrote letters for weeks before speaking on the phone. We talked and what she said about her life matched up with what God had shown me by signs and wonders. We decided to meet. When I saw her for the first time I raised my hands and praised God. I did not consider what she might think of that but later she said she thought it was cute.
We ate breakfast at IHOP and got along very well. I asked if she wanted to continue the date and she said yes. She wanted me to choose what to do next. I heard the Lord tell me to take her shopping and when I told her that she smiled and said, “The Outlet Mall, I was thinking about the Outlet Mall.” It was like the Lord knew her mind and told me what to say.
The whole day was like that with the Lord right in the middle, one perfect day.
Fourteen hours later while eating dinner her brother called and wanted to know if I had kidnapped her. We laughed and looked at our watches. It did not seem like we had been gone that long.
Twenty years later we often reminisce about that one perfect day when God answered both of our prayers with each other. You see, my wife had prayed “Show me your will for me.” after her fiance died suddenly of an aortic aneurysm.
It has been like that for twenty years but it started on that one perfect day.
