Why Why Why

John 3:16 English Standard Version (ESV) “For God so loved the world,[For this is how God loved the world] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 is the most quoted scripture in history. It is easily quoted even by non-believers. Yesterday we ended the simple truth with a wish to not make things complicated.

Over the decades it has been observed that when a lost soul comes to terms with what Christ’s death on the Cross has done for them they often ask why.

“Why would He do that for me?”

God is love is the simple answer and yet that does not satisfy some new believers. There is a real and bitter emotion that cannot be denied. We are all unworthy. None of us deserve that much love and yet God loves us anyway. Insecurity seems to be our fallback position when we are faced with the awareness that our love for Him pales in comparison to His love for us.

This is where it gets complicated. Removing insecurities is an emotional battle and the Spirit is given to help us overcome our insecurities with truth. It is a spiritual battle that has been waged over and over again for thousands of years.

The truth is that we cannot love God as much as He loves us. So what are we to do about that?

The simple truth is this.  His abiding presence is able to love others when we cannot.

That sounds extremely complex.

Here is an answer. Let go and let God.

Let go of judgment. Let go of hate. Let go of bitterness. Let go of resentment. Let go of revenge. Let go of insecurity. Let go of pride.

These and many other things are love blockers. They do not stop God from loving through us, they stop us from experiencing that love as it flows from us.

How it Works

Hebrews 4:12 English Standard Version (ESV) For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

John 1:1 English Standard Version (ESV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 English Standard Version (ESV) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son[the One] from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:6 English Standard Version (ESV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 15:9-11 English Standard Version

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

Ephesians 3:17 English Standard Version (ESV)so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

Hebrews 4:12 English Standard Version (ESV) For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

It is just that simple.

Embrace the love and do not allow the complexities of the why to overwhelm the mind.
