Saving Faith

Ephesians 2:8 English Standard Version (ESV) For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

Is it really that simple?

Grace is unmerited favor, That means it is a free offer void of any consequences in accepting the offer of salvation through faith. Apart from faith salvation is impossible.

Jesus said to us “I am the Way.”

That does not mean we will find salvation by living our life as the man Jesus Christ lived His. He was sent by Father God to be the atonement for all sin.

We were not born again in the Spirit to be an atonement for anyone’s sin. We are a witness to Father God’s great mercy in the face of unimaginable sin. The worst sin can be forgiven. We need to stop seeing sin as a scale of worth.

Romans 3:10-11 English Standard Version (ESV) as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands no one seeks for God.”

What changed when we accepted Christ by faith? The Holy Spirit was given so that we will have understanding, and we will have the desire to seek God.

What didn’t change is our righteousness.

Philippians 3:8-10 English Standard Version

8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

To be found in Him, in His righteousness, not our own, is found in being like Him in His death.

Dead men don’t sin.

Romans 6:3 English Standard Version (ESV) Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

Let those who have ears, let them hear. Amen

The Invitation

Isaiah 55:1-11 English Standard Version

1 “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.

3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.

4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples.

5 Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you.

6 “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;

7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Here is the invitation and the really good news is that the time and place to accept the invitation is up to you to decide when you are ready to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Verse 2 above speaks to a life lived that is not satisfying. No one ever wants to change their lives as long as it is satisfying.

Turning away from a life that is not satisfying is called repentance. We all must turn away from the life we lived and seek this new one, based on the covenant that God has made to everyone that has placed their faith in the atoning works of the Cross of Christ.

You do not have to understand all the promises God has made in this new covenant in order to accept the invitation by faith. Understanding will come by the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, who comes to everyone who has accepted this invitation.

Are you tired of the life you have chosen for yourself? Do you want forgiveness for every mistake you ever made? Do you want security, peace and a loving relationship with the One who will never leave you nor forsake you? Maybe now is the time.
