John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Jesus summed up all the laws in just two commands, which are really just one. Love. You would think that is easy but maybe we do not properly understand love itself. So let us reexamine what love does in 1 Corinthians 13.

Love suffers long and is kind. While we might want to separate the two issues here allow me to point to the issue of being kind in your suffering. We often associate suffering with illness and injury but I do not believe this is what the Holy Spirit is telling us about suffering.

John 15:20-22 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

Here in John 15 we hear Jesus telling His Apostles “if they keep my saying” which is literally the same issue of John 14:15, keep my commandments. Here however He is speaking about delivering the gospel to the lost. This isn’t about suffering for yourself but suffering for the lost.

How many of us have spoken the words of reconciliation to those we love only to be ignored? Do we not suffer in our hearts over the rejection of God’s Word? Do we remain kind in rejection or do we allow ourselves to become frustrated and impatient?

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

An offer is on the table, nothing you have done is beyond forgiveness. Let us talk about it. This is so compelling, in that the offer is not only made, He is willing to reason with you and explain why you should accept it.

Life offers are made from a position of strength and come to a point of take it or leave it. This isn’t a barter; you cannot sweeten the deal. This is the best offer anyone has ever made and if you cannot see that, then the Lord says, “OK, let’s talk about it.” He does not threaten to pull the offer off the table and tell you “Take it or leave it!” The offer is still on the table. Let’s talk about it!

The offer does have an expiration date, that being once you die. Dead men cannot reason with the living. I’d personally reason with you as long as you have breath to breath. I’ll reason with you right here and in person if possible.

What? I don’t have the right to speak for the Lord? Well actually I do.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Now if you do not believe that, let’s talk about it, while you still have time. Be reasonable.
