Take a Chance

Hebrews 11:8 English Standard Version (ESV) By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

Abraham is credited with being the father of our faith. Here is the first and most important issue of faith for someone who has just heard the gospel message of hope.

They believe they are called but have no idea where they are going nor what is to become of them.

We who have “been there done that” should recognize that even with all our experiences, we do not know what is in store for them. We should not tell them anything more than the truth.

In taking this chance of placing their faith in Christ, the Comforter will come and tell them the truth.

Philippians 4:6 English Standard Version (ESV) do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

There will always be a certain amount of anxiety in new believers. We should remember that as we disciple the new born babes in Christ. We should relieve their anxiety with our training plans.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 English Standard Version

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

That which is good for the individual should be good for everyone. Grace is a universal donor, good for all blood types.

The blood of Christ is from the Universal donor.

A Chance

Ecclesiastes 9:11 English Standard Version (ESV) Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

Time and chance happens to us all.

That chance to place our faith in Christ happens to us all.

The fact that we can believe does not explain just how that works for everyone. Belief is not dependent on perfect understanding.

What we can believe is dependent on what Christ has done in us, not what He has done for us.

John 5:24 English Standard Version (ESV) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

We must not separate the Word from the mission that God the Father set in motion from the beginning.

 John 1:1-5 English Standard Version

The Word Became Flesh

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Factum Peractum

Only the Word of God can accomplish what He sets out to do before He uttered a single Word.

That is a difficult concept for mankind who only believes what they see.

It becomes easier to see the hand of God working in our lives if we have heard the gospel first.

Time and chance happens for all of us.
