Do Right

Genesis 4:7

If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”

Yesterday some will say that I should not have admitted I got the Word Preparedness wrong, that it wasn’t the Word of the Lord at all.

I say malarkey. Excuse my cussing.

The Lord gave me the Work Preparedness to demonstrate exactly what happens when we look to our own concerns rather than His. I did not get it right the first two times because I allowed my own concerns for this country to be put before what God wanted to say. No matter how smart we are, no matter how dedicated and persistent we are, we are still human and we will always struggle with that because we are not yet perfected.

Genesis 18:19

For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”

Doing well might get us accepted as it was said to Cain but doing right is about seeing to it that God’s promises are kept. Doing righteousness and justice is impossible without taking God’s righteousness, Jesus Christ, into account for the choices we make. My fears and doubts were self serving. I was not serving the Lord.

It took three tries to see that. Getting the message right is not as easy as hearing and believing. We must see things from the standpoint of our position in God’s promises and serve His will from where we stand.

In following Jesus we must be aware that looking at all the dangers on each side and making a choice that isn’t following Jesus. He got us this far, don’t get sidetracked just because you don’t like seeing what is going on around you.

I did and I was wrong. That is the lesson of Preparedness.

Preparedness

Isaiah 3:9

For the look on their faces bears witness against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves.

This is my third attempt at getting a Word of the Lord right. The word preparedness came to me 2 days ago. My first instinct was wrong. My second attempt was a little better, but I still did not have the message right.

Third time’s the charm. Right? We shall see.

Exodus 32:29

For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

I left off yesterday with the message that the Spirit instructs us with what we are to do today. Having been given the Word Preparedness I went into tomorrow for an answer that fits today. It turns out I can’t even take my own advice.

Consecrate yourselves to the Lord TODAY, it is the only day you have and there is no promise of a tomorrow.

Matthew 5:45

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

We are all in this together, sinners and saints alike. The only thing that separates us is the faith we have placed in Jesus Christ.

That faith serves us for a blessing today, not tomorrow.

His blessing comes today because we are faithful today. Who knows what tomorrow brings?

Looking at the woes in life will only see death and destruction. That saves no one.

He is giving us a blessing so that we can be a blessing, today.

Hebrews 3:13

But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

I pray this will encourage you.
