False Doctrine

Christ Came to Fulfill the Law

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

There are many verses of scripture that address false doctrine. Since we have to start somewhere let us begin with the basics. Doctrine means teachings. This extraction from Matthew 5 comes after Christ teaching on what we commonly refer to as The Beatitude.

You will not find any of His teaching on The Beatitudes in Torah.

The Beatitudes

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

When God speaks, listen.

Here in Matthew 5:17 Jesus clearly states that He did not abolish the law.

One false teaching twists Romans 6:14 “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” When a teacher says the law no longer applies because we are under grace, it is false doctrine. Perhaps a teaching in Isaiah will clarify this issue.

Isaiah 59:15-17 English Standard Version

15 Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. The Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.
16  He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him.
17  He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak.

Everything begins with the establishment of truth. The Lord looked down upon mankind and saw that no one was establishing truth and the end result of trying to obey the law without it made man a prey at the hands of the enemy. The enemy being the original liar, Satan.

So the Lord Himself came down from the throne of heaven to establish truth, salvation and righteousness by the power of His right arm.

The second false teaching is that Jesus was just a man and not the Son of Man foretold by the prophet Daniel. The greater the truth, the louder the resistance by the enemy of The Christ.

Ask Me

1 Peter 3:15  but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Surround yourself with people that agree with you and no one asks you to defend your faith.

Answer me this please. Why is it that those who are actively protesting for the right to continue in sin do not have opposing views standing against them with the truth? If Jesus leads us to witness, will He be with us? Will He not lead us?

Luke 8:37 Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear.

John 12:36 “While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”

The Unbelief of the People

When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them.

I would have to say that sinners need to come to the light when they find themselves in a position of fear. When sinners gather together in protest they encourage one another and do not fear God. They come looking for a fight. A group opposing them is exactly what they want and then the violence within them will explode.

Jesus was not drawn to unbelief. Everyone that gathered around Him in Mark 5:24 clung so close to Him that He struggled to move through the city.

I would love it if someone would ask me about my hope. I am ready to answer that question.

Yet the crowds of Mark 5:24 were not asking Him anything. They just wanted to get next to His Holiness.

So I ask myself honestly, is my lamp lit?
