Spiritual Ears

The exact phrase “ears to hear” appears 10 times in the KJV.

Below are the exact phrase matches.

Luk 14:35

It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

This phrase only occurs twice in the old testament. It is only found in the synoptic gospels.

Does that term sound like an accusation? It can sound like an insult if we do not have ears to hear. Afterwards, it doesn’t matter any more.

Herein lays the lesson. It is easy to lose sight of what was in the glory of a new dawn.

Our former life can feel like a nightmare that we do not want to repeat, so we don’t want to go back to sleep. But is it that way for everyone? It is not fair to think everyone feels this way but some might.

Impatience

Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Job 6:11 What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should be patient?
Psalm 37:7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!

The reason I am not a teacher is that I have no patience about issues I deem easy to understand. Some things come easy for me and I am wrong to expect it should be easy for everyone.

I have forgotten that I too was deaf and blind at one time.

Psalm 22:27 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.

I can’t wait for that to happen. I am doing everything I can think of to help that prophecy come true. I am just a broken clog in the wheel of time. I cannot make time pass any faster. While I believe this is true I am impatient with all the work that needs to happen for that time to come into being. Sadly my impatience doesn’t help. So I accept that I would make a lousy teacher.

Since I am not a teacher, what am I doing here?

I present the gospel and allow the gospel to speak for itself.

  • Romans 10:17
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:18
As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been Yes and No.
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:8
For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

I don’t need to explain this to you. The Word speaks for itself. Those who have ears, let them hear.
