Doctrine

Deuteronomy 32:2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: (KJV)

Deuteronomy 32:2 May my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, like gentle rain upon the tender grass, and like showers upon the herb. (ESV)

My doctrine is one word Strong’s leqach, leh’-kakh; from H3947; properly, something received, i.e. (mentally) instruction (whether on the part of the teacher or hearer); also (in an active and sinister sense) inveiglement:—doctrine, learning, fair speech.

My speech is one word Strong’s ʼimrâh, im-raw’; or אֶמְרָה ʼemrâh; feminine of H561, and meaning the same:—commandment, speech, word.

What is the meaning of Inveiglement?

According to Webster: to entice, lure, or ensnare by flattery or artful talk or inducements

Rain can cause a flood of information. Dew on the other hand covers us with gentleness.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Hebrews 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

He has spoken to us as the dew, covering us in gentleness.

In short, doctrine is instruction, not commandment. Doctrine is meant to bring understanding but who teaches and how it is taught can be an inveiglement, which is influence but should never be considered to be His speech. His speech is a commandment, which is delivered to us by faith  through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Confused? Welcome to the club.

Proverbs 15:22 Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.

This is why no teacher should be allowed to teach without being examined thoroughly to determine the soundness of his doctrine according to tenets of the church.

Titus 1:9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

Obligation

Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Psalm 119:34 Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.

Ezekiel 43:11 And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple, its arrangement, its exits and its entrances, that is, its whole design; and make known to them as well all its statutes and its whole design and all its laws, and write it down in their sight, so that they may observe all its laws and all its statutes and carry them out.

Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.

James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.

All of the above scriptures are true. I have included Ezekiel 43:11 for one simple reason and that is personal shame for the things we have done.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Once we are born again and the Holy Spirit is given to instruct us in all righteousness and to enact the will of God the Father in our lives, this life we live by faith in Christ is His life and we are His.

John 14:2-3 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

He will not come for us until He has prepared us, His temple, our body.

Revelation 21:2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Remember this please, a bride is not a wife until the wedding. Our union is not yet complete.
